Ode to the Gulf of Mexico

This song is every bit as meaningful as it was over 30 years ago.
It's not just soap and toothpaste that concerns us now.
What we have done and continue to do to our planet
just makes my heart ache.
The BP oil spill inspired this latest digital compilation.

Beach Boys - Don't Go Near The Water

Don't go near the water

Don't you think it's sad

What's happened to the water

Our water's going bad

Oceans, rivers, lakes and streams

Have all been touched by man

The poison floating out to sea

Now threatens life on land

Don't go near the water

Ain't it sad

What's happened to the water

It's going bad

Don't go near the water

Don't go near the water

)Hey, hey)

Toothpaste and soap will make our oceans a bubble bath

(Ah-um dirty water, ah-um dirty water)

So let's avoid an ecological aftermath

(Ah-um dirty water, ah-um dirty water)

Beginning with me
Begi(Ah-um dirty water, ah-um dirty water)

nning with you

Don't go near the water

To do it any wrong

To be cool with the water

Is the message of this song

Let's all help the water

Right away

Do what we can and ought to

Let's start today

Hey! Thanks for checking out my blog! I love your Ode to The Gulf Coast. One of our daughters lives in New Orleans. She says that the rest of the country has forgotten about them, because they see no boats from her office window.
I'll be back soon!

p.s. I come from a family of professional photographers, so I am looking forward to seeing a lot of your work.

And thanks for taking a look at my Blog as well. I enjoyed reading through your journey with your Mum. So touching and emotional. I have experienced what you are going through so know that you are not alone. I felt a lot of the same emotions.

The oil spill has moved SO many people around the globe. It's particularly close to home for me since all of my family lives in Florida. I can't help but wonder what will happen to EVERYTHING in and around the are: the states on the US gulf coast, Central America, and all those beautiful reefs in the Keys. The decimation just makes me want to cry......

When I started writing about Mum, I had no idea just what it would lead to.

Our daughter in New Orleans is just so sad--Louisiana has been through so much in the last few years. It doesn't seem fair! My husband and I have been to Grande Isle, La. and while I would not want to live there, I found it very interesting. There are several fishing camps there where sports fishermen can go out, and tie up to the oil rigs. I guess that's the last thing anyone wants to do now!

My husband is Canadian by birth and we have family in Alberta and Ontario. What a beautiful country you live in!

We spoke to our daughter in New Orleans on Father's Day. She is just crying about the spill. She says, "The government has just forgotten about us!"

I don't want to believe that that is true, but the world in general has gotten out of hand.

Patty, I hear there was an earthquake in Ontario. Was it near you?

Sorry for not responding sooner Judie. Still trying to get the hang of Blogger.
I also have a son in Calgary, Alberta. The earthquake did not cause much damage. We were fortunate. Felt a few vibrations here, but nothing more.
